Back with 10

So I blinked and 30 weeks went by. 30 weeks since I blogged, painted my toes, sat in a quiet room, drank a glass a wine, and napped. Rest in peace sweet, sweet naps. If a full time job and a 2 year old don’t keep you busy, then add on growing a human and you’ll find yourself in my fuzzy, tired, ungroomed, and unorganized haze. All selfish complaining aside (thank you, that was needed and a  little fun), we are beyond thrilled about our new addition. We always knew we wanted our kiddos to be close in age and think 27 months is going to be a pretty cool combo. I realize life will get even more crazy town but I’m going to ride this idyllic gravy train until it stops in the town of you-have-two-kids-under-three-and-work-full-time.

And since I haven’t had time to blog about everything on my mind, here’s the top 10 list of the latest and greatest:

1. We’re preggers with Baby #2!

Around December I just started jonesing for another baby. I was starting to look back at Dylan’s baby pictures, taking an extra second scrolling through the 10,000 baby pictures that fill up my Babybook .. I mean Facebook newsfeed, and when I started saying “awww” while flipping through the PB Kids catalog, I just knew it was time. I truly believe this was God putting this in my heart because I just had an unexplainable feeling that we were ready. One month later, I was positive we were pregnant. I took 2 early pregnancy tests – both negative – but just didn’t believe them. One week later, I took another and there were those beautiful two pink lines.

Oh don’t mind the bed head, mis-matching pjs, and the fact that my kid is holding a stick that I peed on. Pretty sure I cleaned it first…

2. It’s a GIRL!!!!!!

And she’ll be here on (hopefully before) October 7th! To tell Dylan about his baby sister we brought home pink balloons. He had no clue what was going on but boy does he loves a balloon.

3. Growing a girl is painful.

This pregnancy has been 110% different. Aside from just showing sooner, I actually hurt this time. My feet decided to suddenly grow half an inch and I think started to flatten a bit. I self diagnosed myself with planter fasciitis (before I even knew how to pronounce it). Now that I’m rounding out my third trimester, I’m just more achy and have already started the wobble wobble walk. Perhaps it has something to do with chasing a two year old around while also growing a human…?

4. Capitan obvious here, but I get to decorate a girl nursery.

Since we were trying to sell our house this year, I haven’t been able to spend a ton of time decorating, but I have done a ton of planning. Lots of blog posts to follow about her room Smile

5. And buy pink stuff… lots and lots of pink stuff. And dresses… ekk.

6. Deciding on a girl name is hard.

It’s even harder when you have a dream that she has already picked out her name and doesn’t like the one you’re actually considering. On the forreals, I had a dream during early early pregnancy that she wanted her name to be Sarah. I like the name Sarah but I love the name Emma.

7. We finally finished our playroom!

This room has been such a blessing. I let Dylan go buck wild in this room and clean it up once a few times a week. It definitely still needs some TLC but it’s lower on the list these days.

8. We’re building a house…well kind of. As soon as we can sell our house, and buy land, and agree on a house plan… well then we’ll build a house.

I’m a sucker for a craftsman house and I’m so loving this one right now!

9. Dylan is out of this world cool. I think I always say his current age is my favorite but on the for reals, 20-24 months is my favvvvvorite.

We just recently celebrated the big 2!

10. And Jer and I also just recently celebrated our 5 year anniversary!

I have no clue where five years went but it’s been the greatest years of my life.

More baby girl stuff to follow very soon!!!

Moleskin 2014 Planner

With all of the gadgets and tools around these days to help a gal keep her schedule organized, I decided to give them a try in 2013 and go without a physical planner. I decided back in January to toggle between my work and gmail calendars on my computer and iphone and try to organize it all on our wall calendar at home. Although the little popup reminders on my phone were pretty nice, this system just didn’t work for me.  I never forgot any super important dates but I just didn’t stay on top of my week and the zillions of to-do’s like I use to be able to do with a physical planner.

So I recently hit up the interwebs to look for the perfect planner and boy did I find exactly what I was looking for… the Moleskin 2014 Weekly Planner. This bad boy is small, durable, features a weekly layout AND has a note / lists section for every week.

So for all you list makers out there like me, this planner is perfect for planning out your week’s appointments and any associated to-do’s related to them. There is just something so therapeutic about crossing something off your to-do list. I’m guilty of even writing stuff I’ve already done down just so I can cross it off. One great big fan of instant gratification here.

Something I was a little skeptical about was the size but after using it for a few weeks, this is definitely a perk as it conveniently fits into my purse. To show you the true size, I parked one of Dylan’s matchbox cars that are rapidly taking over my house.

I got caught in the act though. Apparently, this was a major Mama no no. My bad.

New Target Storage Bins

I love buying little storage bins. In my ripe old age of 28, I now get just as excited over a fresh new box as I do about a new pair of shoes. Very sad but oh so very true. Ok, so I guess it’s not really the box I’m getting hype over though, it’s really more about knowing what that adorable little container is going to do … which is organize and simplify. I’m just not a big fan of digging around big bins for little things or worse not knowing where all those little things are. And as ol’ Sweet Brown once said, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

But what this somebody definitely had time for yesterday were these $5 bins I strolled by in Target. With everyone’s “get organized” New Years resolution, this is such a great time to find good deals on storage bins and Target has so many awesome styles this year!

This polka dot beauty comes in white and black but unfortunately I couldn’t find it on These were in the seasonal section of my local target on an end cap.

Although there are endless uses for these, I think I’m going to use one to store greeting cards for my friends and fam this year. It’s the perfect size for even oversized cards and with a snazzy little label and a few dividers, this is going to be one helpful little system.

Yes, Mama… that’s your birthday card. Happy early birthday and please act like you didn’t already see it when I mail it to you in a few weeks Smile

The second polka dot box is going to be the new home of me and Jer’s “love letter” box. Ok, Ok… before you start hating or think I’m the biggest cheese ball ever, this is just a box that I started throwing all of the cards and letters Jer and I have given each other through the years in. But thanks to a lotta’ love or maybe thanks to narrow Jack Rogers sandals, this bad boy is ready for an upgrade.

As I was moving our cards into their new home, I came across this gem. A few years ago I convinced Jer to trade in pre-written Hallmark cards for more thoughtful, sincere letters and homemade cards. But being the tech guru my sweetie is, a simple pen and paper just wouldn’t do. Oh no, he headed straight to this Microsoft Card template and even threw in some super snazzy clipart. I know… I know…  I’m one lucky lady!

The navy striped bins could also be used for so many things, but I think I’m going to keep these in Dylan’s room since they go really well with his nautical theme. They also happen to be the perfect size to house 66 matchbox cars that I’ve been desperately trying to keep off the floor. Am I a bad mom if I hide these from him?

Happy New Year and happy organizing!

Stain or Paint?

I need your advice. I know a lot of you that follow my little slice of the internet are some hard working mama and DIY bloggers yourself so I’m hoping you can help me crack this nut: Should I refinish this adorable toddler table or paint it?

DIY Toddler Table and Chair

I recently found this gem tucked away in the back of my mom’s attic. It’s real wood, the table is in decent condition – the chair is in excellent. But most importantly, it was my mama’s y’all. A little table that she use to sit at and read and color is now being used by my little guy. So that’s why I’m so torn.

As you can see it definitely needs some sanding work… but nothing an orbital sander and fine grit sandpaper couldn’t handle. And although honey colored stain has a time and a place, this aint it. So if I stained, I would take it up to a much darker finish.

DIY Toddler Table

My biggest fear in painting it, is that Dylan will color or smear the massive amount of dirt that little boys seem to produce all over it and would constantly just look…. well… funky. I’ve explored a few chalkboard paint options but clearly white or a soft blue are out.

So whatcha think? Should I take the time to sand and refinish this bad boy or paint it? Dylan can’t wait to know what you think! Smile

Hey there!

I'm Jamie, just one new mama organizing her way to a sweeter and happier home
