Emma’s Nursery Closet

I can’t even control it anymore. I am nesting like it’s nobody’s business. I am so envious of all you pregnant peeps who can kick back and relax during your third trimester because with both my pregnancies I’ve been a label-makin’, dust bunny killin’, floor cleanin’ nutcase. I just seriously get this feeling that this baby cannot exit my body until everything is perfectly in it’s place. I seriously woke up last night and started thinking about how I could move our washing machine and dryer to clean behind them. That just aint even normal… right?

All that said, I am trying to force myself to sit more during these final two weeks. Especially given that as of last week I was already 3 cm dilated / 70% effaced. I just keep getting this visual of her just falling out of there while I’m walking around. OK… sorry, don’t visualize that. But before I completely kick back, I thought I would take a second and roll around in the organized goodness of baby Emma’s nursery closet and share it with you guys.

Hopefully you’ve already checked out Dylan’s nursery closet and how we rolled with that one. Although I still love how his turned out, we definitely made it a lot harder than it had to be by completely overhauling the closet with a new closet system and removing the standard white shelf that was already installed. For Emma’s, we kept the original top shelf but added a second one several feet below and then an additional half shelf at the bottom.

This big brother was all too happy to help… especially because he got to use tools.

I became a big big fan of the Delta Nursery Storage Set set when I ordered it for Dylan’s closet a few years back, so I knew I just had to get it in pink for Emma.

I also recently discovered this pink label tape for my Brother labeler that matched perfectly. I may have squealed in the Staples label aisle.

Also within the Delta Nursery Set are these handy dandy size labels. And yes, that’s her coming home dress. Ekkkkkk…. I’m having a girrrrrrrrl.

Girl Nursery Closet

The top shelf of the closet is currently housing infant toys, to-be-collected memories and items I’m passing down to her. The smaller boxes to the right (from Target) are for seasonal items (Thanksgiving bibs, Christmas socks, etc) and extra nursing parts.

Again, something else I loved when organizing Dylan’s room was using his top drawer to store diapers, wipes and creams. This allowed me to fit soooooo much more than I ever could in a bin on top of the dresser.

Girl Nursery Organization

All of the other drawers just house onesies, pants, blankets, etc.

Oh and I also recently added a new basket to her bookshelf that I’m crushing on….

I found this canvas Toy basket at Home Goods for a couple bucks <3

Well that’s it! Now it’s time to lay around, eat bon-bons (I still have no clue what they actually even are…?), and wait for baby Emma to arrive!

Emma’s girlie nursery

There is just something about a girl’s room. I had so much fun decorating and organizing Dylan’s Nautical Nursery, but decorating with the color pink hasn’t really been an option since my college days, so even the thought of wall to wall blush and bashful (name the movie!?) was enough to get me giddy.

I did have to fight the urge to paint though. Just a few years ago, I painted this once guest room Stonington Grey and have always loved how soothing it is. And that’s really what I’m after… a soothing, cozy little room where I can someday soon convince her sweet little self to snooze for 11 hours straight. Dylan has hooked a mama up with his sleeping skills, so here’s to hoping we get as lucky.

OK… back to the room. Well without further ado, here she is! I’ll take you on a little tour around the room:

Pink and Grey Nursery

Although I’m so very happy with how it all came together, I’m just giddy over her curtains. They are far far far from perfect… but they are just what I wanted for this room. After hours of hunting for the perfect pink panels, I decided to just DIY them using my trusty panel tutorial and this beautiful fabric from

Pink and Grey Nursery Crib

I had my heart set on this Pali crib and dresser set, but Jer convinced me the price tag was just too steep and found this Bonavita set instead. I got both pieces from Amazon and 2 days later (woot, woot, proud Prime member in the house) the dresser came fully assembled and the crib in many different parts that Jer tackled like a champ.

Pink and Grey Nursery Bookshelf

Man I wish I could take credit for these amazing canvases on and above Emma’s bookshelf… but I can’t. They were a gift from one of my bestest friends, Katie! Thanks boo, you are so very talented and I absolutely adore them!

Pink and Grey Nursery

Oh and also on her bookshelf… did anyone grow up collecting these birthday dolls like my sister and I did? I completely forgot about these until my sister recently gave me this one for Emma at my shower. So excited to watch Emma collect these!

So for the glider, I fully intended on snatching the one we got for Dylan two years ago  – it’s so comfortable and he and I have spent so many nights just a snoozin’ in it. But… I just couldn’t. He still loves it and even though it’s getting fewer and fewer rocks from us these days, we still read a few books in it every night… and well… it’s his. I’m about to rock his word with a new addition to our family, so decided it was best to just keep things as normal as I possibly can for him.

To solve the problem, I found this glider at Target and have already put some miles on it. Might just be bloggin’ away in it right now Smile

Pink and Grey Nursery

Last but not least is the changing table/dresser. You know I’ve got some organization posts in the works to show you inside…

Pink and Grey Nursery

Same for the closet…

And that’s a wrap y’all! 7 more weeks and we get to bring a sweet little baby girl home to this room. I seriously can’t wait… and that’s just not the heartburn or kankles talking. God has blessed me with the most amazing little boy and I’m just so unbelievably excited that He is blessing us again.. and this time with a little girl. ekkkk!

Back with 10

So I blinked and 30 weeks went by. 30 weeks since I blogged, painted my toes, sat in a quiet room, drank a glass a wine, and napped. Rest in peace sweet, sweet naps. If a full time job and a 2 year old don’t keep you busy, then add on growing a human and you’ll find yourself in my fuzzy, tired, ungroomed, and unorganized haze. All selfish complaining aside (thank you, that was needed and a  little fun), we are beyond thrilled about our new addition. We always knew we wanted our kiddos to be close in age and think 27 months is going to be a pretty cool combo. I realize life will get even more crazy town but I’m going to ride this idyllic gravy train until it stops in the town of you-have-two-kids-under-three-and-work-full-time.

And since I haven’t had time to blog about everything on my mind, here’s the top 10 list of the latest and greatest:

1. We’re preggers with Baby #2!

Around December I just started jonesing for another baby. I was starting to look back at Dylan’s baby pictures, taking an extra second scrolling through the 10,000 baby pictures that fill up my Babybook .. I mean Facebook newsfeed, and when I started saying “awww” while flipping through the PB Kids catalog, I just knew it was time. I truly believe this was God putting this in my heart because I just had an unexplainable feeling that we were ready. One month later, I was positive we were pregnant. I took 2 early pregnancy tests – both negative – but just didn’t believe them. One week later, I took another and there were those beautiful two pink lines.

Oh don’t mind the bed head, mis-matching pjs, and the fact that my kid is holding a stick that I peed on. Pretty sure I cleaned it first…

2. It’s a GIRL!!!!!!

And she’ll be here on (hopefully before) October 7th! To tell Dylan about his baby sister we brought home pink balloons. He had no clue what was going on but boy does he loves a balloon.

3. Growing a girl is painful.

This pregnancy has been 110% different. Aside from just showing sooner, I actually hurt this time. My feet decided to suddenly grow half an inch and I think started to flatten a bit. I self diagnosed myself with planter fasciitis (before I even knew how to pronounce it). Now that I’m rounding out my third trimester, I’m just more achy and have already started the wobble wobble walk. Perhaps it has something to do with chasing a two year old around while also growing a human…?

4. Capitan obvious here, but I get to decorate a girl nursery.

Since we were trying to sell our house this year, I haven’t been able to spend a ton of time decorating, but I have done a ton of planning. Lots of blog posts to follow about her room Smile

5. And buy pink stuff… lots and lots of pink stuff. And dresses… ekk.

6. Deciding on a girl name is hard.

It’s even harder when you have a dream that she has already picked out her name and doesn’t like the one you’re actually considering. On the forreals, I had a dream during early early pregnancy that she wanted her name to be Sarah. I like the name Sarah but I love the name Emma.

7. We finally finished our playroom!

This room has been such a blessing. I let Dylan go buck wild in this room and clean it up once a few times a week. It definitely still needs some TLC but it’s lower on the list these days.

8. We’re building a house…well kind of. As soon as we can sell our house, and buy land, and agree on a house plan… well then we’ll build a house.

I’m a sucker for a craftsman house and I’m so loving this one right now!

9. Dylan is out of this world cool. I think I always say his current age is my favorite but on the for reals, 20-24 months is my favvvvvorite.

We just recently celebrated the big 2!

10. And Jer and I also just recently celebrated our 5 year anniversary!

I have no clue where five years went but it’s been the greatest years of my life.

More baby girl stuff to follow very soon!!!

Moleskin 2014 Planner

With all of the gadgets and tools around these days to help a gal keep her schedule organized, I decided to give them a try in 2013 and go without a physical planner. I decided back in January to toggle between my work and gmail calendars on my computer and iphone and try to organize it all on our wall calendar at home. Although the little popup reminders on my phone were pretty nice, this system just didn’t work for me.  I never forgot any super important dates but I just didn’t stay on top of my week and the zillions of to-do’s like I use to be able to do with a physical planner.

So I recently hit up the interwebs to look for the perfect planner and boy did I find exactly what I was looking for… the Moleskin 2014 Weekly Planner. This bad boy is small, durable, features a weekly layout AND has a note / lists section for every week.

So for all you list makers out there like me, this planner is perfect for planning out your week’s appointments and any associated to-do’s related to them. There is just something so therapeutic about crossing something off your to-do list. I’m guilty of even writing stuff I’ve already done down just so I can cross it off. One great big fan of instant gratification here.

Moleskin 2014 Planner

Something I was a little skeptical about was the size but after using it for a few weeks, this is definitely a perk as it conveniently fits into my purse. To show you the true size, I parked one of Dylan’s matchbox cars that are rapidly taking over my house.

I got caught in the act though. Apparently, this was a major Mama no no. My bad.
